Our Mission

To create stable and supportive community based environments conducive to the empowerment of Transgender People and to provide options of recovery in a multitude of areas.

Our Goals

  1. Assist Transgender People in connecting with themsleves and finding active positions within their community respectivly.
  2. Help to establish equality and support in the workplace and aborad.
  3. Establish non discriminatory health care to Transgender People from all walks of life, color, and spiritual beliefs.

The mission is met through the program, which is tailored specifically towards Transgender individuals and their unique personal, social, economic, and emotional needs.

The program is a 90 to 180 day intensive experience that focuses on the following areas:

  1. Emotional Development:  Skills development by itself will not be enough to sustain change over time or equip program participants with the emotional strength needed to meet the many challenges they will face once they leave the program.  Some of the groups and workshops are designed to help program participants explore a variety of emotional issues such as anger, ambivalence, fear, depression, rejection, stigma, motivation and assertiveness.  The goal is to develop an internal locus of control that will be needed to deal with their current and future challenges in professional and personal relationships.
  2. Emotional Support: Program participants will be expected to continue working with therapists and mental health professionals in the community.
  3. Job Readiness and Skills Development: Participants will be expected to participate in community-based job skills development programs.
  4. Maintenance in Care:  While in the program, participants will be expected to work on accessing the necessary social service and health care support.  Participants will learn how to navigate these systems, advocate for themselves and take the necessary steps to stay in care.
  5. Housing: Finding safe housing that is close to community services in Maricopa is a challenge for all vulnerable populations.  Public transportation becomes a critical necessity but for Transgender People it is a barrier.  Most Transgender People are petrified to ride the bus because of past experiences of violence and discrimination.  Without stable housing it will be very difficult for program participants to stay in care, hold a job or maintain the current success.  Program participants will need to find housing that is close to the core services they need.
